Recipe: Cuban Sidecar (serves one)
- 1 oz. golden rum
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- 1 oz. fresh lime juice
- Lime twist for garnish
Shake liquid ingredients vigorously with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into glass, and garnish with lime twist.
You can think of this cocktail as a rum Margarita, or a Sidecar with the lemon replaced by lime and the brandy replaced by rum. Either way, we think this cocktail tastes like yummy sour lime candy in a glass.
The rum. We used 10 Cane rum, which we first got from our sister/sister-in-law when she came back from Trinidad. It’s a smooth, golden rum, named for the practice of bundling sugarcane stalks in groups of ten. Unfortunately, as of 2015, it seems this rum is no longer being produced.
