Our favorite way to have a Manhattan is in the style of Carthay Circle Lounge, with cherries and an ice sphere. We were back there this weekend after running the Disneyland 10K race. The lounge is a great place to take a break from the theme parks, with delicious drinks and a relaxed, Old Hollywood atmosphere. This time, there were lots of extra sparkles to celebrate the park’s 60th anniversary. Carthay Circle’s diamond anniversary offerings included special versions of two cocktails: their Manhattan and Martini, both served with diamond-shaped ice.
The Manhattan: Regardless of the shape of the ice, Carthay Circle makes theirs with Bulleit rye, Carpano Antica sweet vermouth, and three cherries.
The Martini: We’d tried making a Martini at home recently and hadn’t liked it much. This one was good, though: it had Hendrick’s gin, which has a more floral taste than most, and Lillet Blanc playing the role of the vermouth.
