Recipe: Roshan’s Undoing (serves one)
- 1 oz. gin
- 1 oz. vodka
- 1/4 oz. Lillet Blanc
- 1 dash (= 1/8 tsp.) Peychaud’s bitters
- orange peel
Shake liquid ingredients vigorously with ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Rub orange peel around rim and drop in drink.
Last week we posted our sister/sister-in-law’s favorite cocktail, so this week, we thought we’d post our brother-in-law’s. This drink is a take on the Vesper cocktail, ordered by James Bond in Casino Royale. In this version, the gin and vodka are in a 1:1 ratio, whereas Bond ordered a more gin-focused 3:1 (plus twice as much liquor overall!). Bond’s version also called for Kina Lillet, an aperitif wine with quinine flavors that hasn’t been made since 1986. As a replacement, Roshan uses Lillet Blanc, which is similar to a vermouth with citrus components, plus Peychaud’s bitters.
