Recipe: Encino Sunrise (serves one)
- 3 oz. orange juice
- 1 1/2 oz. tequila
- 1/2 oz. pure cranberry juice
Shake orange juice and tequila with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with cranberry juice. Do not stir.
This drink is inspired by the Tequila Sunrise, which is made from orange juice, tequila, and grenadine (pomegranate syrup). We made a Tequila Sunrise recently and loved the way it looked, but it quickly became too sweet as we got down to the grenadine at the bottom of the glass. We tried a variant with unsweetened cranberry juice instead and liked it much better. There are lots of distinctively named versions of the Tequila Sunrise online, but we couldn’t find this one, so we named it for the neighborhood of Los Angeles where we live. It was a hit when we had friends over for brunch.
