- maraschino cherry
Stir liquid ingredients with ice. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with the cherry.
The basic formula for a Manhattan is whiskey, aromatized wine, and bitters. We’ve posted quite a few variations, ranging from the Greenpoint to the Barolo Chinato Manhattan to the Vieux Carré. But we’d never had a variant involving apricot liqueur until we found this recipe from New York bartender Julie Reiner. The liqueur’s fruitiness is balanced by the Punt e Mes, which is on the bitter side as vermouths go. If you like Manhattans, this is definitely one to try.
