Recipe: Suze NegroniĀ (serves one)
- 1 oz. gin
- 1 oz. Suze
- 1 oz. Lillet Blanc
- 1 dash (= 1/8 tsp.) Angostura bitters
- orange twist
Stir liquid ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with orange twist.
If you like the Negroni, this cocktail is a must-try: it replaces the Campari by Suze, and the sweet vermouth by Lillet Blanc. Suze is a French gentian liqueur that’s a bit less bitter than Campari, and has more green herb as opposed to clove aromas. A Negroni made with Suze is often called a White Negroni, but it’s actually not clear in color: it’s a not-so-great neon yellow. We added the Angostura bitters for color and flavor, and call it the Suze Negroni. We’re a bit late for Negroni Week, but we’ll be celebrating next year with this delicious drink!
