Recipe: LA Woman (serves one)

- 1 1/2 oz. mezcal
- 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz. agave nectar
- 1/3 oz. Amaro Angeleno
- citrus twist
- rosemary sprig
- coarse salt
Pour salt onto plate. Rub lime wedge around half rim of the cocktail glass and press rim onto salt-lined plate. Combine liquid ingredients in ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish with citrus twist and rosemary sprig.
Most of our trips recently have been local stay-cations: our most recent one was a night in Malibu. We stayed at the Surfrider, which is a small hotel directly on the Pacific Coast Highway. It has a guests-only rooftop restaurant with ocean views (see picture below) and a farm-to-table menu. They make this cocktail with Amaro Angeleno from local Ventura Spirits, combined with smoky mezcal, citrus, and rosemary (which grows like a weed here) — perfect for an LA woman, or anyone from LA really! We got the recipe from the bartender and just reduced the agave from 3/4 oz. to 1/2 oz.
If you’re looking for a lower-alcohol drink with Amaro Angeleno, try the Angeleno Spritzer.
