Recipe: Angeleno Spritzer (serves one)
- 2 oz. Amaro Angeleno
- 3 1/2 oz. club soda
- orange wheel
Add amaro and club soda to ice-filled glass and stir. Garnish with orange wheel.
This low-alcohol cocktail uses Amaro Angeleno from Ventura Spirits. This amaro is reminiscent of Aperol in its combination of sweet orange and bitter herbal flavors, but Amaro Angeleno has more of a juicy tartness, and a drier finish. Its alcohol level of 23% is double that of Aperol, while still far less than the 40% you’d find in a straight spirit.
If you have a bottle of sparkling wine open, you could sub in Amaro Angeleno in the recipe for an Aperol Spritz. But this liqueur can hold its own with just club soda — making a super-simple drink that’s perfect for summers in Los Angeles, or really anywhere.
