Recipe: French 75 (serves one)
- 1 oz. gin
- 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- 1 tsp super-fine sugar
- 4 oz. brut champagne or other sparkling wine
- orange twist
Combine gin, lemon juice, and sugar in a Champagne flute or wine glass. Stir. Top with Champagne and stir gently. Garnish with orange twist.
This classic sparkling cocktail is a high-powered brunch drink, harking back to the 75-millimeter cannon it’s named for. It’s quite a bit more boozy than a mimosa. If you prefer tequila over gin, the Jumping Jellybean also provides quite a kick.
